Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about integrating Gravity Forms with Excel Online.

Does it require a Microsoft Azure App? +
Yes. To ensure your data stays completely private, you will create a free Microsoft Azure App and generate your own Client ID and Client Secret. This guarantees that your data goes directly from your WordPress site to your Office 365 account without passing through any third-party servers.
Does it work with personal OneDrive accounts? +
Yes! It supports both personal Microsoft accounts (OneDrive) and organizational accounts (Office 365 / SharePoint).
Does it work with the Microsoft Office desktop app? +
Yes! As long as your Excel file is saved in your synced OneDrive folder. If you open that synced file using your installed Microsoft Office desktop application (with AutoSave turned on), you will see the new Gravity Forms entries pop into your spreadsheet in real-time.
Can I map fields to different worksheets/tabs? +
Absolutely. You can specify the exact Worksheet name inside your Excel file, allowing you to route different forms (or different conditions) to different tabs.
What happens if Microsoft's API is temporarily down? +
The plugin has a built-in auto-retry queue. If a submission fails due to a temporary network issue or API downtime, it will automatically try again in the background until it succeeds.
Does it support physical Excel files on my local system? +
No. This plugin is designed specifically for Microsoft Excel Cloud (Excel Online). It requires your file to be hosted on OneDrive or SharePoint so that data can be synced via the Microsoft Graph API. It does not support standalone physical .xlsx files stored only on your local computer or web server.
